Icetime: Can't open chipdb file: No such file or directory

#1

I followed the directions in https://tinyfpga.com/bx/guide.html on a fresh Ubuntu 19 install and cloned github.com:tinyfpga/TinyFPGA-BX

I wanted to build from the command line (not using Atom) and included $HOME/.apio/packages/toolchain-icestorm/bin in my PATH. Alas, make -C icestorm_template fails the icetime step:

...
// Reading 8k chipdb file..
Can't open chipdb file: No such file or directory
  /usr/local/share/icebox/chipdb-8k.txt
make: *** [Makefile:34: top.rpt] Error 1

I haven’t figured out a way to make icetime look in a different directory. Am I missing a step somewhere?

As a workaround, you can use -C <chipdb-file> on the icetime command line. In general, recent versions of icetime should be looking for a chipdb relative to the binary (i.e. in ../share/icebox), so it’s likely that either apio’s builds are out of date or something is going wrong with this.
